Every week I will be reviewing the weekend Pick 15.

The associated syndicate reference is: 773TNPPP

We will always be going for the Jackpot of £800,000 with a maximum of 64 lines (£128.00 stake).

We will not Cash Out – we will not fold to pressure – we will win this thing!

Last week we brought home half a slice of bacon. 50% refund for everyone. I’m still struggling to understand the Brazilian Serie A league and had Santos beat 19th placed America MG then we would have certainly profited. Had Burton not ended Coventry’s good run and Scunthorpe not just edged out Bristol the prize could have been huge. We were so very close, but sadly it wasn’t to be.

Each week I will be highlighting some fixtures as bankers – games that I would bet my house on and will be tallying up my success rate on these games.

There was only one banker from last week: England – and it was never in doubt for a second!

Bankers so far: 14 out of 30 (shameful)

Bankers this week: Derby and Montpellier

Fulham vs Southampton

Neither of these teams can remember what it’s like to win and I’m banking on them both continuing that trend and getting a draw here.

Selection: Draw

Brighton vs Leicester

Premier League winners Leicester (as a Leicester fan I feel it’s important to mention this every time they come up) like to beat Brighton 2-0 usually. I’m hoping it’s not just because my allegiances lie there that I’m thinking a similar result seems likely. The cloud hanging over them is thankfully not affecting them too much on the pitch.

Selection: Draw / Away

Swansea vs Norwich

Norwich have started to become the team I always knew they could be. The 4-3 victory over Millwall was nothing short of epic. Then before that a 4-0 drubbing of Sheffield Wednesday. Teemu Pukki is on fire. So Norwich could easily take the points here. I expect Swansea to be stubborn at home though and if they’re firing on all cylinders they could win, so I will cover home and away. Time to re-mortgage the house and place it on a draw.

Selection: Home / Away

Sheffield Wednesday vs Derby

Wednesday are still struggling with injury woes and apart from a blip last week against Villa, Derby are looking very strong. They will likely be too much for Wednesday.

Selection: Away

Hull vs Nottingham Forest

It’s extremely tough being in the Championship as Hull are showing because they shouldn’t be anywhere near the bottom of the table considering that it wasn’t long ago they were still in the Premier League. Despite their poor form the bookies have Hull as favourites here. Because of this and the fact that Hull put three goals past Birmingham last time out, I’m going to cover a home win. Because Forest are 15 places higher than them in the Championship it makes sense to back away too.

Selection: Home / Away

Preston vs Blackburn

Not sure where to go here either. 3 of Preston’s 4 wins this season have been at home, whereas Blackburn’s away record is decent too. They only have 1 loss between them in the last five league fixtures. It could basically go either way. I’m hoping that a goal will separate them and I’m covering home and away again.

Selection: Home / Away

Tottenham vs Chelsea

So far this season when two mighty Premier League teams such as these have faced each other it’s resulted in a draw. Chelsea – Liverpool, Chelsea – Man Utd, Liverpool – Man City have all resulted in a draw. I’m backing this trend to continue and punting for a draw in this derby match too.

Selection: Draw

Brentford vs Middlesbrough

Tony Pulis is grinding out results for Middlesbrough and their away form is solid. Many people liked Brentford for promotion at the start of the season, but that seems to be looking less likely as it progresses. A draw seems possible here given how prolific Maupay is being for Brentford, but an on form Middlesbrough (who’ve only lost 2 games this season) should edge the points.

Selection: Draw / Away

Huesca vs Levante

The bookies seem to have an unfounded confidence in a revival for Huesca. They’ve only won 1 game this season and Levante beat Real Madrid not long ago. I realise that victory was out of the ordinary, but I can’t find anything that would lead me to back the home team in this instance.

Selection: Away

Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona

Atletico haven’t lost at home in the league this season and I’m aware that if they are going to then this is probably the game. However, I just get a feeling they’re going to hold Barcelona to a draw. Their defence is the strongest in La Liga and Barcelona have problems at the back, as demonstrated when Real Betis put 4 away in their most recent game. If it was at the Nou Camp I feel I’d have to back Barcelona, but I’m punting on a draw.

Selection: Draw

Athletico Bilbao vs Getafe

I find it hard to ignore league position, but Athletic Bilbao are strong favourites to win this despite only having won once in 12 games. I guess if I had to pick one of the fixtures where Bilbao are going to find a win then this would be it. Getafe have lost “Bruno” at the back to suspension, so this might unsettle them.

Selection: Home

Bologna vs Fiorentina

Fiorentina have found themselves in a troubling time with no wins in the last 5 league games. But they have managed to get 4 draws, so it hasn’t been all bad. Roma and Torino were amongst the fixtures too, which will have been much more difficult than this one is likely to be. I’m going to back them to overcome Bologna and get a much needed win on the board.

Selection: Away

Montpellier vs Rennes

There have been more draws in Ligue 1 than all of the other leagues around the world put together and that’s a fact. At least it feels like that. Yet, I can’t quite bring myself to back the draw in this game. Montpellier’s manager Michel De Zakarian must have spent the week looking in the mirror saying “you de man” after his team’s 3-0 victory against Marseille. He was so busy doing that he probably forgot about the game against Angers (a forgivable blip I’m sure). I fully expect them to get back on track here with a win.

Selection: Home

Lazio vs AC Milan

Lazio’s Ciro Immobile loves to score (as many as Ronaldo so far). Lazio did the impressive double against Marseille in the Europa League. However, they are unreliable in big games in Serie A. They lost to Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli so far this season. AC Milan are strong opposition and will put them to the test, but they are without their top scorer Higuain through suspension, so I expect this to make the difference and Lazio to come out on top.

Selection: Home

Villarreal vs Real Betis

This leaves me with the luxury of 2 selections for this last game and I can only select home and away, because if we’re still in it at this stage then this choice will keep it entertaining right up until the final whistle. The only question is – will I be able to find a pub that will put it on for me?

Selection: Home / Away
