Every week I will be reviewing the weekend Pick 15.

The associated syndicate “Jim’s Pick 15 Banker” will always be going for the Jackpot of £800K with a maximum of 64 lines (£128.00 stake).

We will not cashout – we will not fold to pressure – we will win this thing!

Last week was unspeakably bad. It shall never be talked of again. But there was an unprecedented 9 draws in 15 matches! I felt strangely confident last week and I was obviously a fool.

Each week I will be highlighting some fixtures as bankers – games that I would bet my house on and will be tallying up my success rate on these games.

Last week there were a crazy 4 bankers: Arsenal, Leeds, Lazio and AC Milan – only 2 of which came in. How AC Milan didn’t beat Cagliari no-one will ever know. Guaranteeing that Leeds would beat Millwall away was probably a bit stupid.

Bankers so far: 5 out of 9 (shameful)

Bankers this week: Stoke, Middlesbrough, Roma

Anyway, onto this week…

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle

The bookies have Palace as out and out favourites in this game. Newcastle are languishing towards the bottom of the table so you might be able to see why. However, the fixtures have not been kind to Newcastle. They’ve lost 2-1 to Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea and Spurs. Hardly teams they’d be expected to beat and they put in a good performance against all of them, scoring in every game. Palace are a much easier proposition. Their 1-0 win against Huddersfield was unspectacular and although it was without Zaha, their loss against Southampton was woeful. So I’m backing Newcastle to have the edge.

Selection: Draw / Away

Burnley vs Bournemouth

Does anyone remember the Burnley of last season? It’s so weird how much a team’s performance can change from one season to the next. Perhaps the distraction of Europa League football is paying its toll. Bournemouth are riding a strong wave of confidence and their 4-2 crushing of Leicester really shows what they’re made of. I’m backing them to take care of Burnley too.

Selection: Away

Reading vs Hull

Reading have a game on Thursday night preceding this match and that could have an effect on the outcome. Hull haven’t really got their campaign going but they have made a brighter start than Reading. I really fancy this one for a draw, but as the away team has the slightest of edges I will cover the away win too.

Selection: Draw / Away

Derby vs Brentford

Brentford are being tipped for automatic promotion by many and will likely be the strongest team here. Lampard is making a decent go of it at Derby but the result against Rotherham was a shock for many and the 0-0 draw at Blackburn not much better. They did dominate both games but lacked spark in finishing. It was also unexpected that Brentford would only draw against struggling Ipswich. Another good shout for a draw this, but as Derby are missing Tom Lawrence (red card suspension) then I will cover the away win too.

Selection: Draw / Away

Stoke vs Blackburn

I can see Stoke’s confidence growing with every game. They are playing much better at home (3 wins in the last 3 games). Blackburn don’t have strong form on offer, so I expect this to be a home banker.

Selection: Home

Middlesbrough vs Swansea

Middlesbrough are another team tipped heavily for promotion and they have impeccable home form so far at the Riverside – 3 for 3. With Sheff Utd and West Brom amongst those wins, so very strong form. Swansea haven’t scored in the last 2 games, so this should be another home banker.

Selection: Home

Ipswich vs Bolton

Strangely Bolton haven’t lost away from home this season in the Championship. Ipswich by contrast are yet to get a win on the board. I have to take this into consideration when Ipswich are still heavy favourites to take this. Bolton have scalped Reading and West Brom away from home so far. Ipswich pulled one back against Brentford yesterday to secure a draw and this might well be the game where they get off the mark, which they have to do at some point for sure. I’m leaning towards the away team just slightly though.

Selection: Draw / Away

Angers vs Toulouse

A typical French Ligue 1 coin toss at the halfway stage. Angers and Toulouse both finished mid-table last season. This season Toulouse are faring much better as they’ve only lost once, whereas Angers have lost 3 out of 5. With a slightly stronger away team in a draw heavy league, you know I’m backing the draw.

Selection: Draw

Montpellier vs Nice

Nice haven’t started too brightly so far but the last 2 results show them in a great light, beating Lyon and Rennes. Montpellier are favourites at home but I’m going with form and backing a resurgence to last season’s brilliance from Nice.

Selection: Draw / Away

Levante vs Sevilla

Levante were towards the bottom of the home form league table last season and Sevilla really are a much better team so should be able to get a win here.

Selection: Away

Bologna vs Roma

This is one of those bankers on paper that maybe trips everyone up, but you’d surely be a fool to think Roma aren’t going to beat Bologna wouldn’t you?

Selection: Away

Chievo vs Udinese

Udinese won and lost exactly the same number of games last season at home and away. So it seems where they play has no effect on the outcome. Chievo may be at the bottom of the table, but they have drawn against Roma and stuck 2 in against the mighty Juventus. Udinese have shown better results but mostly against lesser opposition, so with the home advantage for Chievo I’m backing them to get their first win.

Selection: Home

Guingamp vs Bordeaux

Guingamp have yet to do anything but lose so far this season and although Bordeaux haven’t done much better they have at least managed a win. Also Guingamp have a goal difference of -11 already! This points fairly strongly towards an away win.

Selection: Away

AC Milan vs Atalanta

I fell a little bit in love with Atalanta last season and they were the team I watched more than any other in Serie A. AC Milan away though is never going to be an easy game. AC Milan has very strong home form – losing only 4 matches last season. Milan have beaten no less than Roma and Barcelona at home so far this season. So it’s with a bit of a heavy heart I back Atalanta to lose, but I can’t ignore the stats.

Selection: Home

Lyon vs Marseille

A nice easy French Ligue 1 game to end with. Marseille are chucking in goals, with 14 scored so far already after only 5 games, averaging nearly 3 a game! Lyon are the bookies favourites for this and for good reason. Their home form last season was impeccable, losing only twice. I expect this to be a bit of a goal fest and it could go either way. Dare I say those famously damning words – anything but a draw? I’m backing goal crazy Marseille to edge it.

Selection: Away
