Liam’s Pick 4 Preview

Liam takes on this Pick 4 featuring the game of the week as United travel to the Emirates.

Chelsea v Newcastle

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea have certainly found it harder this season to compete for the Premier League trophy with the added competition of the Champions League. While they are in third place, a commendable title challenge looks a stretch too far. Eden Hazard has returned to spectacular form, while their defence remains resolute. The Blues are not scoring a vast amount of goals and keep the scores tight. For Rafa Benitez, thinks are looking bleak in the North East. Newcastle staged a fantastic comeback to claim a draw against West Brom, but their defence is a shambles without captain Jamaal Lascelles. Chelsea have won the last three out of five games against the Magpies, which is what I expect to happen once again.

1-0, AOH, AOD

Leicester v Burnley

Since Claude Puel arrived to take over from Craig Shakespeare, Leicester have been a more stable team in the Premier League. A win against Tottenham last week emphasised this emphatically. While they have not been at their best this season, far from it, they will go into this game as favourites to derail Burnley’s winning streak. Sean Dyche has done a miraculous job at Burnley this campaign, given critics and journalists were suggesting the Clarets could be relegated this year. The North West club are currently in sixth place, vying for a Europa League finish, which is just remarkable. However, since 2010, Burnley have only won one game against Leicester. This could be the game where the momentum stalls for a moment.

AOH, 2-0, 1-0, 0-1

West Brom v Crystal Palace

This will be Alan Pardew’s first game in charge as the new West Brom manager, which, coincidentally, is against his former team and the last club he managed. West Brom are in a deep rut, especially after blowing a 2-0 lead against Newcastle. They are situated 17th in the table, just two measly points above the relegation zone; Pardew is going to need to rely on every bit of experience to get the club out of this mess. For Crystal Palace, under Roy Hodgson, they are in an even worse position. Sitting dead bottom, this is the worst start to a season in their club’s history. However, there is still hope, as they remain only three points from safety. A win would give the people of Croydon a huge boost and some much-needed hope to hang on to.

2-1, 0-0, AOD

Arsenal v Manchester United

The biggest game of the weekend takes place at the Emirates, with Arsenal entertaining Manchester United. Not only is this a historically big game, but the Gunners are back into the top four and the Red Devils need to win to keep the pressure on Manchester City. The rivalry should be properly reignited after a few seasons in which they have played but no fireworks have been set off. Mesut Özil will be a key player for the Gunners, as he will look to pull the strings from midfield. For Man United, Romelu Lukaku needs to step up to the plate and start influencing the ‘bigger’ games. It is going to be a tight game, but José Mourinho has a habit and a history of ruining Arsène Wenger’s fun.

1-0, 1-1, 1-2, AOA
