Pick 20 Over/Under punter scoops nearly €14K from a €0.20 ticket!

It was a weekend one punter from BetClic will not forget, as they managed to turn a €0.20 ticket into nearly €14K in our Pick 20 Over/Under 2.5 goals pool- equivalent to an accumulator of almost 70,000/1! This is how it unfolded…

Saturday Action

A sixth minute goal from Steven Davis threatened to have this player playing for a consolation prize after the first leg but the rest of the tie passed without major incident as Palace became the first club in top flight history to lose their first five games without scoring. An uninspiring pair of 3 o’clock kick offs in the Premier League then got this ticket off to a solid start with West Brom vs West Ham never looking like being a high scoring thriller. Only Southampton (13) and Man Utd (12) have recorded more 0-0 draws in the Premier League than West Brom (10) since Tony Pulis took over in January 2015.

Two goals in the last 15 minutes at the City Ground kept the ticket alive as the game headed into squeaky bum time, landing the sixth leg of this pick 20 pool. Five Championship fixtures were dispatched with aplomb with a bold call for unders in the Millwall vs Leeds tie, given Leeds had found the net on average three times in their previous four games.

Saturday evening began with a similarly brave pick in Italy, as our winner called the Fiorentina vs Bologna fixtures correctly to go over 2.5 goals, a match which had seen just 6 goals in the previous 4 encounters in a league which is rarely free scoring (the big boys aside). Serie A is a relative goal fest, however, when compared to France’s Ligue 1 where three 1-0 victories were played out on Saturday evening, as this player sailed into Sunday without breaking too much of a sweat. With just 2.63 units in play overnight this player had earned sizeable Cash Out offers but played on and was in with every chance of scooping the full jackpot.

Sunday Legs

Sunday morning saw Juventus’ trip to Sassuolo first up in the lunch time kick off with Juve big favourites to take the spoils and make it four wins from four to go top of Serie A. A 63 minute Dybala hat-trick will have been gratefully received with seven legs remaining and Cash Out offers rising. Two 2pm kick offs then followed in Italy which looked to have this ticket dead and buried. Three goals in nine minutes had Milan 2-1 up before half time whilst Cagliari were cruising at 2-0 after 68 minutes. A Cash Out at this stage would’ve appeared a sound option after a good run which looked very much like coming to an end but a goalless second half had this player dreaming of the big prize.

Leg 17 came at Old Trafford, where Rooney returned for the first time for an out of sorts Everton side, kicking off alongside Rennes vs Nice. This ticket required an over and under outcome respectively to stay alive. United got off to a flyer, with a thunder-bolt from Valencia in under five minutes, an early boost to the owner of this ticket. With the games 1-0 and 0-0 at half time our punter made the brave decision to Cash Out 50% of his ticket, locking in €1,325.48 of guaranteed profit leaving them playing for €12,500. Rennes vs Nice never threatened to be the leg which unraveled a brilliant run of 16 correct selections but the United game was looking increasingly unlikely to produce the goals. A Mkhitaryan strike on 83 minutes opened the floodgates as goals from Lukaku and a Martial penalty gave United a flattering scoreline and suggested a much easier ride for our winner than was undoubtedly the case. A roller-coaster 18 games later and they were 2 selections away from landing our pick 20, a remarkable effort.

The Finishing Straight

Chievo vs Atalanta passed without majorly troubling this player in hindsight, though a very nervy five minutes no doubt ensued following Atalanta’s equaliser from the penalty spot.

After 19 sets of 90 minutes, just three goals stood between this player and nearly €14K! Resisting what must have been a tempting €5,454.45 Cash Out offer, this winner let his ticket run. A one sided first half saw Lazio go in one goal to the good at half time, having had nine attempts on goal whilst Genoa had failed to threaten Strakosha in the Lazio goal. With two goals required in the second half another Cash Out offer was rejected, with the punter putting his faith in the two Italian sides to come good. A 57th minute Genoa equaliser will have eased the nerves and set the game up perfectly for a third goal to follow. That it did, 13 minutes later as Ciro Immobile scored the first of his brace and in doing so landed one of the most impressive bets we have seen and sent someone, somewhere into pandemonium.

Massive congratulations to the winner, enjoy your winnings!
