PREVIEWING THE MILLIONAIRE POOL

This week, the Millionaire includes clashes from the top and bottom of the Premier League. The pool jackpot stands over £2.33 MILLION and I’m predicting a lot of close games this week!

We’ll preview the pool now.

West Ham vs West Brom- Sat, Feb 11 15:00

West Brom visit the London Stadium, in search of taking three points back to the Hawthorns. The Baggies sit fourth in the Premier League form table, having lost one of their last six. There has been real cause for optimism around the club, as they have been strong all season.

The Hammers head into this with a slight upturn in results at the London Stadium. West Ham have won three of their last five league home games. A goal against Southampton, took Andy Carroll’s tally to six in twelve league appearances. His return from injury has been a driving force for West Ham’s upturn.

West Brom have drawn five of their last six on the road to West Ham. Both teams would settle for a draw in this tight match-up.

Prediction: 1-1

Middlesbrough vs Everton- Sat, Feb 11 15:00

Everton visit the Riverside with fans still jubilant after their 6-3 win last week. The Toffees are the form team in the Premier League, as they are without a loss in seven games. Four of those seven games have seen Koeman’s side keep a clean sheet in securing the win. Romelu Lukaku increased his tally to sixteen Premier League goals, and the Belgian doesn’t look like he’s done!

Whereas, Middlesbrough are without a win from their last seven Premier League games. It’s clear to see the problem for Karanka’s side is scoring goals, with only three goals from their last seven games. Only Negredo and Stuani have scored more than two goals for Boro and the reliance on them is telling.

Everton have won four of their last six visits to the Riverside and I can see them picking up another win here. Everton’s tight defence and Boro’s woeful attack looks like a win to nil is also on the cards.

Prediction: 0-2

Liverpool vs Tottenham- Sat, Feb 11 17:30

This is the clear stand out leg of this week’s Millionaire pool. Spurs head into this with seven wins and two draws from their last nine Premier League games. Conceding only five goals from these nine games, Spurs are solid defensively. English duo Kane and Alli have scored 25 goals between them already this season.

Liverpool’s 2017 has been nothing short of horrific. Their win against Plymouth has been their only victory since the turn of the year. Picking up only three league points in 2017, Klopp’s side have fallen  away from the title race to 5th in the league. Although, the return of Sadio Mane from the African Cup of Nations, could get Liverpool back to winning ways.

If Tottenham fail to win, then Chelsea could go as many as 12 points clear at the top of the table. Such a gap would have the title race all but over. But, I can see them winning this and increasing the misery of Liverpool.

Prediction: 1-3

Burnley vs Chelsea- Sun, Feb 12 13:30

The runaway leaders visit the third best home team in the Premier League. Chelsea recovered from having their run broken by Tottenham with three wins and a draw. Conte’s side look well placed to go on another run of positive results and wrap up the Premier league title. The Blue’s looked comfortable in their 3-1 victory of Arsenal last time out.

Although, they need to be cautious about their visit to Turf Moor. Burnley have been exceptionally strong a home and have won their last five home league games. The Claret’s sit 12th in the league and look likely to finish mid table. The key to their success has been their defence, conceding only one goal from their last four games.

Chelsea look too strong for anyone in the league, but they must remain cautious of fortress Turf Moor.

Prediction: 0-2

Swansea vs Leicester- Sun, Feb 12 16:00

Leicester face up to the realities of a relegation battle with a six pointer at the Liberty Stadium. The Foxes have won one of their last nine league games and sit one point above the drop zone. The problems lie at both ends of the pitch, with ten conceded from their last four games. Whilst, not scoring a league goal in 2017 has left them toothless.

Things are looking up for Swansea. Paul Clement managed consecutive wins before an unfortunate defeat to Manchester City. The Swans have won three of their last five games, having only three of their last 19 previously. Three of the last four meetings at The Liberty between these two resulted in a Swansea win to nil.

Both of these teams will want to be clear of the bottom three but also concerned about falling behind. This is one that neither can afford to lose.

Prediction: 1-1

Lazio vs AC Milan- Mon, Feb 13 19:45

The final leg of the Millionaire comes from the Serie A clash between Lazio and AC Milan. AC Milan have lost their last four games by a one goal margin. Poor disciplinary is part to blame for such a run, with Milan seeing three red cards in their last five games. They now sit eighth in the league and six points behind their hosts.

But, Lazio’s form has been very temperamental. Three wins were followed by consecutive losses, and now they have won their last two. Most notably, their last game was a thrilling 6-2 win over Pescara. Lazio need to stabilise this form if they are to progress up the table.

The head to head record between these two is balanced. But recent form and home advantage will prevail in the final Millionaire leg.

Prediction: 2-1
