Syndicate Captains Predict the 2018/19 Premier League

2018/19 Premier League

Over £375m of prizes across the new football season! 18+

The 2018/19 Premier League season gets underway on Friday night with Manchester United hosting Leicester City. Last year saw the race to the golden boot go to the wire, whilst the same couldn’t be said for the title as Manchester City tied that up quickly! Will the Citizens run riot again this season?

We’ve asked some of our popular Syndicate Captains to share their thoughts for the season ahead:

Spidey Crane

Who will finish in the top four?

Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs.

I think City and Liverpool are the two to beat this year. Both have strengthened during the summer and neither will lose many games this season. Chelsea have a great manager and with Kante and Hazard they always carry a threat. Spurs have got a great starting XI, but they haven’t signed anyone, and the next couple of days are crucial for them. Any injuries and Man United will be there to nick that fourth spot.

Which three teams will be relegated from the league?

Cardiff, Huddersfield and Southampton.

All three will struggle to score enough, and I just can’t see their starting XI’s being anywhere close to the quality needed to get near 35 points.

Who will be the top scorer?

Sergio Aguero.

If he stays fit, he wins it. It’s that simple. Kane and Salah will both push him close. But I just can’t see past the Argentine.

Which club has had the best summer transfer window?

Liverpool.

They got their business done early which is key. They’ve bought sensibly and whilst they have spent a lot, it’s been on quality. If they can defend a bit better than last term I really see them pushing City all the way.

Who will finish in the top four?

Man City, Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal.

Man City, Liverpool and Spurs all finished top four last season with Man City dominating the league table in a multi-record breaking season. I think these three teams are sure to be top four again but the fourth place is a puzzler.

Man United were runners up last year but I think Mourinho is on a backwards track at the moment, and his style of play is not what United fans have come to expect. I can see them slipping down the table (and Jose slipping out the back door) with Arsenal reaping the rewards. The signings of Aubameyang and Lacazette were superb. A new manager at the helm will breathe life into the Gunners.

Which three teams will be relegated from the league?

Huddersfield, Brighton and Watford.

Huddersfield survived the drop last season in legendary style but they won’t be so lucky this season. Scoring only 28 goals in a season is simply not good enough and new signings haven’t been inspiring. Brighton had a tremendous season last year but the squad is aging and they won’t have the “Championship Bounce” effect this year. Watford face 6 away ties in the first 8 games. That can hurt morale, especially as they lost 13 of their 19 away days last season.

Who will be the top scorer?

Alexandre Lacazette.

The Golden Boot winner is a tough one to call. Kane is sure to be up there and if stays injury free could well win it. He’s been in the top two the past four seasons. Aguero will get his goals but Jesus looks to be the first choice striker. They will share the goals.

Salah will be a marked man this year but will still finish high. Lukaku is….. Lukaku and won’t be top scorer, period! I will take a shot at Lacazette for Arsenal who is now settled in and has Aubameyang for support from the left. Lacazette has already shown his talent and only had half a season last time. With a full season he should be good value to lift the award.

Which club has had the best summer transfer window?

Liverpool.

Liverpool have splashed the cash in the summer window but to be fair, they have made some good moves. A record breaking transfer fee for a Goalkeeper saw Alisson (Brazilian no.1 choice keeper) from Roma join the club. They have also strengthened the midfield… and in a very attack minded way! Shaqiri arrives from Stoke and will cause problems for many teams, creating plenty of opportunities for goals. Next up is Keita from RB Liepzig, another scoring midfielder and only 22 years old. Lastly they snared Brazilian internationalist Fabinho from Monaco.

Who will finish in the top four?

Man City, Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal.

I think City, Liverpool and Man United are all self explanatory really, I’d be very surprised if they don’t finish in the top four. For me the only debate is who will get fourth, Arsenal are looking good in pre-season, they’ve got a new manager, decent transfer business and could soon be a club on their way back!

Which three teams will be relegated from the league?

Huddersfield, Cardiff and Burnley.

Huddersfield have lost their promotion bounce now and reality of the Premier League will hit them hard this year. Cardiff, I don’t think they’ve done enough business to stay up, haven’t got the quality in my opinion. Burnley will struggle this year, I think it all depends on how they do in Europe. If they manage to get to the group stages, I feel it’ll do more bad than good for the club, Thursday/Sunday games will be difficult to handle for them.

Who will be the top scorer?

Harry Kane.

He’s a top class finisher, could be pushed by Lukaku this season but Harry Kane for me.

Which club has had the best summer transfer window?

Wolves.

I feel they’ve done unreal business so far and now people are expecting a good season from them. Not only bringing in players of Moutinho’s quality, but managing to keep hold of Neves has given Wolves a massive boost.

Who will finish in the top four?

Man City, Liverpool, Man United and Chelsea.

Man City will win the league at a canter again, no other team has the strength in depth or quality to get near them. Reluctantly I think Liverpool will be second to City. Spent well on problematic positions from last season, also Klopp’s plucky side-line antics must equate to an additional six points a season.

Despite Mourhino’s well documented sulky pre-season and his equally infamous ‘third season meltdown’ Man United still possess the quality to make the Champions League. Even if Mourhino is replaced by Paul Lambert mid-season!

This is a point of a coin flip and I’m favouring Chelsea because I support them and really want them to play Champions League football next year! Could be Chelsea/Spurs or Arsenal, all have credentials of potential meltdown or stringing great winning runs together.

Which three teams will be relegated from the league?

Huddersfield, Brighton and Cardiff.

I love the way Huddersfield try and play football, but they almost got found out at the end of last season. They’re guaranteed to be found out this season.

We’ve tipped Brighton to be bottom at Xmas, will be scrapping with Huddersfield and Cardiff to stay off the bottom. Cardiff will nick a few shock wins along the way. They’ll be the replacement of a ‘cold wet windy night in Stoke’, but ultimately will finish last. Warnock to be replaced with Pardew by Xmas

Who will be the top scorer?

Sergio Aguero.

After he was almost crow-barred out of Manchester by Guardiola last year he’s due to feel the love again this season. His movement and finishing is still the best in the Premier League and will again help himself to a barrel full of goals this season.

Which club has had the best summer transfer window?

Liverpool.

Mainly by replacing their calamitous keeper. Not saying Allison will set the league on fire but as long he can catch more than a cold, he’ll be an upgrade. Also Fabinho and Keita look like solid additions.
