The Champions League proper returned from hibernation last week and what a welcome return it was for some in our midweek Pick 15. As the weekly winners stories go, they don’t come much better than this…
On the face of it and to put it bluntly, this ticket is pretty insane. Banker predictions in every leg other than the second to last (and in fairness, Videoton vs BATE Borisov was always going to be a toughie to call), it was a whisker away from being dead for the win prize in the opening leg. But, in a nutshell, Liverpool saw off PSG in stoppage time thanks to a late winner from Brazilian substitute, Firminho.
Fast forward to Thursday and on to the final, crucial leg, our punter needs a Leverkusen win for the perfect 15/15 and it wasn’t going to be smooth. The German side came from 2 goals down to run out 3-2 winners. 60p wins £72,924 – huge congratulations to our winner 🙂
The Saturday lunchtime London derby between Fulham and Watford kicked off a tricky looking Pick 4, but 1-1 seemed like a pretty safe pick in the first – and that it was, a score draw getting us through leg 1 intact!
Crystal Palace vs Newcastle in leg 2 and the form guide suggested Palace were the more likely, but, shrewdly, this punter had covered the goalless draw, just in case Rafa’s Newcastle could nullify the Eagle’s attacking threat. They duly obliged. A banker 3-1 win for Leicester in leg 3 meant we were now live into the last.
With Spurs 2-0 up against Brighton and the game deep into stoppage time (the ticket needing a 2-1 win for Spurs), was it going to be close, but no cigar for the perfect 4/4? Well, it’s not over until it’s over! Anthony Knockaert cropped up in the 94th minute to score a late consolation for Brighton and sealed a fantastic win for our punter. Their £16 effort wins £11,560.
When your first selection hits the skids, you might forget to check in again until later on, seeing as that chance of the big prize has gone. Well here is an example of exactly how the Consolation prize can provide some very nice results when playing Colossus pools. Ending up with 4 Correct Scores out of 6, they scooped the Consolation prize in full for a handsome €954! Keep an eye out for those FreePlay tokens 🙂
